Cropping Blind...

Not only did I have the privilege of creating the Master Layout for this months Blind Crop at Scrapville, but I also had the great opportunity to run both the afternoon and evening Blind Crop classes. The best thing about creating the Master LO is extending myself to explore and play around with different techniques and products...and this month was no exception.

I wanted to do something a little different so I reached way back into the old grey matter archives (aka stretched the memory!) to a time long ago when I used bleach and stamps on a series of cards. It worked then so I thought I would give it a go now.
This is what I came up with...

Always BELIEVE in yourself

I used some plastic alphas as templates and traced around them to create the title. Once this was done I painted the traced letters with bleach, which creates a different effect each time, and outlined each letter by stitching in a dark blue thread to make them stand out a bit more.
As well as bleaching the title, I also dipped the stamp in bleach and stamped around the edges of the LO. Initially this looks like a big globby mess but once the bleach dries it creates quite a soft and watery effect. The bonus is that it doesn't damage your stamps BUT it does give them a really good clean!!!

I have never been a big fan of quilling but the distressed flowers looked so lonely along the stitched flourishes so I thought I would have a little play and see what happened.
When THIS happened I was very pleased!
Another success story....I hope...with many more to come!

Until next time,

As promised...and more

In my last post I promised to be back and here I am!
This is the card I made using the Sketch by Melinda created for Scrapville this month.

This card is great for using up smaller bits of paper that we just can't bear to get rid of.
I added a few pearls to the flowers, a strip of card rolled through the Texture Boutique and a bit of ink to finish it all off! Try this one out...you won't regret it.

On another note, I thought I would add a little Sneak Peek for the Blind Crop this weekend at Scrapville. These Blind Crops are so much fun and if you have never tried it and live in the Albury/Wodonga area then it is a must to try at least once in your lifetime...but be warned, once may never be enough!!!

Sketch time again...

It's that time of the month again over at Scrapville! Yet again Melinda has come up with a great LO sketch and card sketch. These were such easy and quick sketches to work with, which is just what I needed at the moment.

First...the LO. I flipped the sketch on it's side, played a bit with some quilling, added some piercing, created a chip bracket with some old packaging cardboard and covered it with paper and it all came together rather easily. Have a go...this one can be toned down for beginners or tarted up for advanced scrappers...perfect for ANYONE!

Quilled heart...
Bee and it's flight path...

Quilled circles to match the design on the paper...

I will be back later in the week with the card I made. This is a great one for using up scraps and I know we ALL have plenty of them in our stash!!!

Blue x 2

I am so lucky to be the mum of my 2 beautiful boys!!! Even though they now look so very different to what they do in these pics.
I created this LO using some of the gorgeous papers from the March monthly pack available from Scrapville...distressing, inking, layering and machine stitching were just some of the techniques used to create this LO.

Hearts galore! 2 of my favourite things...the colour blue and hearts

The 2 pages together...

I SO LOVE MY BOYS!!!

Pure White

At last I have a pic of the offending wall in the dining room. You can't really see how horrendous it really is and you can't see all the dents and chunks in the plaster either but trust me...THEY ARE THERE! I didn't think to take a truly 'BEFORE' photo with the wallpaper on the wall but I will get an 'AFTER' photo with all the chunks smoothed out and painted nicely. Just don't know when that will be.

And because I am a total novice to blogging I have tried everything to remove the accidentally uploaded 2nd picture and nothing works...so you will have to deal with 2 of the same. But keep scrolling down as I have also managed to get pics of some work from last weekend...

As promised, here is one of the LO's I managed to accomplish last weekend. I have never EVER done a monochromatic page before and I was very pleased with how it turned out.
I also struggle using flowers...not because I don't like them but because most of my pics are of boys and boy things...but I also managed to pack a heap of flowers onto this LO. Along with some embossing and stitching and a ring of pearls to top it off.

Some flower and stitching detail

The embossing and pearls. The effect is much better in real life
I love the simplicity of this LO and I will be trying out the monochramatic theme again.

until next time,
